Pigeon Creek trails are about 3 miles north of Mountain Home. The trails are on a recreation area owned by the Corps of Engineers around Lake Norfork.
Pension Mountain Trails (MTB)
The city of Berryville owns some land on Pension Mountain and they have developed some trails for hiking, mountain biking and off road motorized vehicle use. To get to the trails, in Berryville, turn south on Hwy 221 off of Hwy 62 just east of the square. Follow 221 out of town through a residential area, Turn left at the stop sign, continue past Southern Heights Baptist Church. Make a 90 degree curve and turn left on CR501. Follow CR501 up to Pension Mountain. Look for the signs at the intersection of CR501 and CR523. The trails on the east side of CR501 are for non-motorized use only, the trails meander through the woods and follow the bluff line for about half of the trails. Very scenic. The trails on the top of the mountain are relatively flat with just a few easy climbs near the bluffline.
There is also a trail that drops down the side of the mountain, but I have not had a chance to explore that trail yet.

Sneed's Creek - March 2010

Sneed's Creek is located in the Ponca Wilderness Area of the Buffalo National River. It can be accessed from either the CenterPoint Trailhead or the Compton Trailhead.
If you start from the Compton Trailhead, The trail starts out slightly downhill through the woods. At 0.6 miles the trail intersects and old road and follows it for a while. At 1.0 mile you will pass an old quarry on the right and travel through some old fields. After the fields, you drop down a steep escarpment via switchback on the trail. The trail meanders over some hills on a small bench before you start down the steep part of the trail. There are several switchbacks and the trail is steep enough to make it a tough hike even downhill! Take your time and watch out for rocks and ledges in the trail. You will reach Sneed's Creek at about mile 2.4 after a descent of more than 1000 feet.
Once you reach Sneed's Creek, you will have a chance to explore 3 main forks upstream. Each has interesting sites to view including waterfalls and bluffs. If you travel downstream you can follow the main trail past some abandoned vehicles all the way to Granny Henderson's cabin and on to Hemmed-in-hollow.
